A Window Into Your Child's Day: Fall Parent Observations

What does your child choose when the work cycle begins? Which materials hold their attention? Who do they like to sit beside? How do they move through the classroom when you aren't there?

Our Fall Parent Observations, taking place October 26-30, give our Farmhouse families a chance to see those everyday moments firsthand.

Seeing the classroom through your child's eyes

During an observation, parents can quietly watch their child in the prepared Montessori environment. You may see your child settle into a favorite practical life activity, concentrate on a new challenge, work independently, or choose a place beside a friend.

Sometimes the smallest moments tell us the most. A child carefully returning a material to the shelf, waiting for a turn, or choosing to work near another child can show growing independence, consideration, and social interest.

Parents are often surprised by the calm rhythm of the classroom. What may look simple from the outside is supported by thoughtful preparation and close observation from our guides. They're continually noticing what interests each child, when to offer guidance, and when to step back and protect a child's concentration.

Preparing for parent-teacher conferences

Parent Observations take place before our fall conferences for a reason. They give families a shared point of reference for conversations with their child's guide.

A guide might say, "You noticed how interested your child was in practical life work. Let's talk more about what they were practicing." Instead of only hearing about the classroom, parents can connect the conversation to something they've seen themselves.

The observations can also help families better understand:

  • How the classroom's daily work cycle flows

  • Which materials currently interest their child

  • How their child approaches challenges

  • How independence develops throughout the day

  • How children connect and work alongside one another

  • How guides support the classroom with intention

Our guides are excited to welcome families in and share the purposeful work that happens each day. We hope you'll join us and enjoy this special window into your child's Montessori experience.

Fall Parent Observations for Farmhouse families will be held October 26-30. Please sign up for a 30-minute observation time.
